Facilitators

Douglas Wills

Douglas a designer, innovator, and cultural navigator. His specialty is leading teams through complex, transformational design and innovation projects. He enjoys sharing his expertise in design research with clients and always aims to foster a stimulating atmosphere in which design teams can thrive. He has had success with long-term implementation projects at multiple Fortune 100 companies, spanning steel to consumer goods, but is most proud of his five years in Seoul, working with Korea’s leading telecom companies.

Douglas is also an adjunct professor and faculty member for the IPRO program at IIT and the Segal Design Institute at Northwestern University where he teaches several courses related to design and innovation. He holds a master’s degree from the Institute of Design and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University.

 

Alexandria Wills

Alexandria is a custom fashion designer specializing in shoe making and leather goods. She designs and produces her own line and does custom work in New York City. Born and raised in Chicago, she spent many summers in Seoul and also attended the prestigious 한국도예고등학교 / Korean Ceramics High School in Icheon as an exchange student. 

Alexandria moved to New York City to expand her business and join the shoemaker collective Brooklyn Shoe Space. With many years of experience across a wide range of media, she is excited to share her experience at the Design Maker Camp to inspire other Maker/Designers. 

Kyungsik Fritz Park

Fritz is a graphic designer based in Seoul.  He wears many hats. His fedora is principal of the one-man graphic design studio, N&Co., specializing in design consultancy, branding and print, while the Stetson he interchanges with a hard hat when he lectures on typography, editorial design and design process at Samsung Art & Design Institute, Konkuk University among many other schools. His green eyeshade is his thinking cap for when he writes or edits work based on design and cultural trends, or when he does translation work in varying capacities.  

With so many hats, Fritz has had the good fortune to work with many talented individuals as well as for many renowned clients such as Interbrand, Designesprit, Design House, gColon, KT, Hyundai/ Kia, Samsung Electronics, Asiana Airlines, Songdo IBD, 5by50, DY and Paci c Star, among others.  He has presented papers at BITS (Bangkok International Typography Symposium) and ATyPI (Association Typographique International) as well as for the Korean Society of Typography.  Of special note is his Windsor cap (seasonal), which he saves for exhibition and show openings he has participated in throughout the years.

 

Amanda Wills

Amanda is a trained architect from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago where she was a Camras Scholar and the recipient of the Peterhans Visual and Alpha Rho Chi awards. She is currently a designer for Quarter20 and Amanda Williams Studio in Chicago.

Amanda has also started an anti-architecture/architecture magazine, Free Ass. Mag. (Free Association Magazine). In order to create further discourse within the architecture and design field, she has been publishing a quarterly publication featuring work by architects and non-architects about compelling architectural themes. Her aspiration is to broaden the dialogue and engagement between those who design our cities and those who live in our cities.
